Cookies
Short version: we set no cookies for advertising. One cookie can be set on a host's guest map, to tell one guest's phone from another, and guests in the EU and the UK are asked first: there it is set only after Accept all, and the choice can be changed under Privacy on the map.
What we store on your device
- Your currency choice, in your browser's local storage (key keyturn.currency), so prices show in the currency you picked.
- Your light or dark theme choice, in local storage (key theme).
- A language preference cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) set by the site framework so pages load in the right language.
- An admin session cookie, only for the site owner when signed in to the admin area. On a host's guest map, when the guest's phone is sharing how it uses the map: a random number for that map, in local storage (key gm-visitor) and in a cookie whose name starts gmv_, both kept for 12 months and never sent to another site. What that phone did while it had no connection waits in local storage too (key gm-track), for up to 7 days, until it can be sent, and is removed with the number. The storage the map needs to work is always on. Guests in the EU and the UK are asked first, with Accept all and Essential only side by side, and the cookie that counts is set only after Accept all; everywhere else a guest can switch it off under Privacy at the foot of the map. Anyone can change their choice under Privacy at any time, and switching it off also deletes what was kept for their phone. A browser that sends the Global Privacy Control signal is treated as Essential only.
None of these track you across sites, and you can clear them any time in your browser settings.
Analytics without cookies
We use Plausible, which counts visits without cookies and without collecting personal data.
Third parties that may set their own
- Cloudflare Turnstile, on pages with a form, to check you're not a bot.
- Gumroad, when you go to checkout. That happens on Gumroad's site under its own cookie policy.
